Real-time insights from monitoring restaurant availability across Resy, OpenTable, Tock, and SevenRooms. Updated daily.
When cancellations and new slots are most frequently detected (Eastern Time)
ReservationFinder's data shows 10 AM ET is the peak time for cancellation and new slot detection, with 2,585 detections over the last 30 days. Secondary peaks occur at 12 PM ET (2,212 detections) and 9 AM ET (1,557 detections). This suggests that diners are most likely to cancel reservations in the early-to-mid afternoon, creating the best window for finding last-minute tables.
Distribution of detected slots by reservation platform (last 30 days)
According to ReservationFinder's data, RESY accounts for 67.5% of all detected table availability (10,158 slots), OPENTABLE accounts for 29.4% of all detected table availability (4,422 slots), SEVENROOMS accounts for 2.2% of all detected table availability (334 slots), and TOCK accounts for 0.9% of all detected table availability (139 slots) (based on 7,505 tables detected over 30 days ending May 18, 2026).
Breakdown of available reservations by party size (last 30 days)
Parties of 2 account for the largest share of detected reservation availability at 77% (11,578 slots). Parties of 3 follow at 15% (2,252), and Parties of 4 follow at 5% (699). This suggests that couples are best positioned to find last-minute reservations at hard-to-book restaurants.
Cities with the most detected reservation slots (last 30 days)
New York leads with 6,669 detected reservation slots over the last 30 days, followed by Palm Beach (4,085) and Miami (2,354). Higher slot counts indicate more cancellations and new openings, meaning more opportunities to find last-minute tables in those cities.
ReservationFinder continuously monitors four major reservation platforms — Resy, OpenTable, Tock, and SevenRooms — checking for newly available tables every 30 seconds for followed restaurants and continuously for all others.
When a cancellation or new slot appears, our system detects it within seconds and records the restaurant, date, time, party size, and the exact moment of detection. This data powers both our alert service and the statistics on this page.
The difficulty index is calculated by counting available slots per restaurant over the last 30 days and dividing by weeks. Restaurants with fewer available slots per week are considered harder to book. Only restaurants with at least 7 days of monitoring history are included.
