Real-time insights from monitoring restaurant availability across Resy, OpenTable, Tock, and SevenRooms. Updated daily.
When cancellations and new slots are most frequently detected (Eastern Time)
ReservationFinder's data shows 8 PM ET is the peak time for cancellation and new slot detection, with 6,762 detections over the last 30 days. Secondary peaks occur at 12 AM ET (5,343 detections) and 12 PM ET (4,418 detections). This suggests that diners are most likely to cancel reservations in the early-to-mid afternoon, creating the best window for finding last-minute tables.
Distribution of detected slots by reservation platform (last 30 days)
According to ReservationFinder's data, OPENTABLE accounts for 45.4% of all detected table availability (19,419 slots), RESY accounts for 35.6% of all detected table availability (15,216 slots), SEVENROOMS accounts for 18.1% of all detected table availability (7,721 slots), TOCK accounts for 0.9% of all detected table availability (385 slots), and resy accounts for 0% of all detected table availability (14 slots) (based on 34,757 tables detected over 30 days ending August 20, 2026).
Breakdown of available reservations by party size (last 30 days)
Parties of 2 account for the largest share of detected reservation availability at 86% (36,557 slots). Parties of 1 follow at 0% (83), and Parties of 3 follow at 4% (1,681). This suggests that couples are best positioned to find last-minute reservations at hard-to-book restaurants.
Cities with the most detected reservation slots (last 30 days)
New York leads with 11,890 detected reservation slots over the last 30 days, followed by Las Vegas (6,661) and Houston (3,375). Higher slot counts indicate more cancellations and new openings, meaning more opportunities to find last-minute tables in those cities.
ReservationFinder continuously monitors four major reservation platforms — Resy, OpenTable, Tock, and SevenRooms — checking for newly available tables every 30 seconds for followed restaurants and continuously for all others.
When a cancellation or new slot appears, our system detects it within seconds and records the restaurant, date, time, party size, and the exact moment of detection. This data powers both our alert service and the statistics on this page.
The difficulty index is calculated by counting available slots per restaurant over the last 30 days and dividing by weeks. Restaurants with fewer available slots per week are considered harder to book. Only restaurants with at least 7 days of monitoring history are included.
